Craig`s story –Alias ‘Superquad ……’

The day, yes the day that we road to Southern Cross the place where in 1981 on a Sunday in august my life changed for ever ??????.

After an eventful ride where Anton ran out of fuel, we finally went and got him and we were all at Southern Cross. We met at the Gull service centre where we fuelled up and relieved our body (yes I went to the toilet , which is always a challenge on the bike???) but it seems to be the easiest and most hygienic. After that Jimbo told me on the walkie talky to hurry up and come around the front of the station where a ambulance came down the main street with the sirens on, (and yes it was for me) out came the head ambulance driver and the paramedic who took me to the Royal Flying doctor from the hospital, (I remembered his face like it was yesterday. He had a smile on his face just like that day). I thought it was really great that they came down to see me and they gave me a  program of the week before`s meeting.

We then went to the site…

The only part that was left was the canteen - we all went there (the Against the grain

guys) and we rode around it. (It was a bit of an anticlimax and made me feel a bit hollow (I thought it would affect me more??). But due to the fact that the track was a large hole in the ground and I have been in a chair since he age of 16 and now being 45, I have made a conscious decision to get over the past and to live every day as it comes.

I am extremely lucky with a crazy fiery Irish bride and a full on blonde bombshell of a daughter.

I would not have been so lucky if I did not have this life changing event……

I am so glad to experience this with these guys..

How’s it going Craig. I would love to be joining you on the road trip. You might stop off in the Barrossa Valley on the way from Uluru to Adelaide. Who’s going to be the nominated driver? :)

Hey Craig, the ten boxes of Laxettes in the fruit cake might have helped with the toilet!!
Re the crazy fiery Irish bride-shouldn’t the ‘crazy’ be in CAPITALS???
