< back to Andy's blogAgainst the grain - day 12-14

3 full days at Uluru with our partners arriving at 1.50pm.
Terry Mader, Kerry and Michael left with Terry's bike to return to Perth as Terry needed to get back to work.
Lot of excitement at the airport as we waited for the girls. Not only was Kate & Marianne coming there was also all the wedding guests and Dougald & Lilian arriving.
We all met and the group caught the bus into town to check in.
Everyone spent time with the families
The next day we had thge wedding which was absolutely stunning. The Sound of Silence wedding area had the rock in the background in a bush wetting. Magnificent meal and night.
Next day we had to do the shopping and prepare to leave for the second section of our journey being some 1,500km to Birdsville for Jims crash site.

A big bbq at the backpackers pub with Anton & Kate dancing to 500 miles...

Andy, I’m following your story with interest and much admiration for what you and the team are doing. My daughter Jane lost her life seven years ago, when the van she was a passenger in overturned when the driver fell asleep at the wheel. Jane was the only one not wearing a seat belt, as she’d stretched out in the back of the van for a sleep, and she was the only one who didn’t survive.
A couple of years ago, my husband and I visited Uluru for a few days, and took some of Jane’s ashes as that was where they had been heading when the crash happened. We went to a “Sound of Silence” dinner there, which was wonderful, and found Uluru a very emotional experience. How wondefrul that you could enjoy a wedding there!!
Looking forward to hearing more about your spectacular journey.
Hugs, Ann xx
ps, Being a pom and now a proud Australian citizen, I didn’t know there were wild camels in Australia! lol
