< back to Andy's blogAgainst the Grain - day 8-10

After leaving Laverton we camped 98km east at a windmill/stock yard . woke upn the morning to the site of wild brumbys. Then we were off ?? early (Not) we were suppose to go but good old Terry had to do some more running repairs to the blue bomb. (what a machine) we finnally got going for a 295km day over staight corriogated road, we thgen stopped a Chookarilla (tjukayiria) roadhose when they proceeded to make the best burgers that a man could ask for. Then to top it of they donated them (thank you very much chookarilla).
Off to our overnight camp on the side of road where we met an old mate ofimairns called Barry Woods. Had not seen Barry since school (30 years ago!) and had a good catch upsing his shower and washing machine. Few stories and drinks and Barry ddonated $100 to our cause. Left an Against the Grain T shirt forhim as he left early on his grader for Laverton Shire Council.
We left early for Warburton for a school presentation on spinal awareness and the belt up seat message. Arrived in Warburton and met Bridie from the arakurna school at the roadhouse. Fueled up and went to the school. Did our presentation to a great mob of kids and gave out wristbands "Belt up you Mob", caps and some WADSA showbags.
Left Warburton for a roadside bush camp where we met four Dutch people in 2CV Citroens. Had a pleasant night around the campfire and to bed fairly early tro the sound of howling Dingoes. (and our generator) Terry a bit scared to camp out with the wild dogs!!!
Early morning departure for Wanarn. As we aproached Wanarn on a rough corrigated road Terry's Left hand mirror fell off quickly followed by the right. Arriving at Wanarm School we were informed that there had been a football carnival and that most kids hadnt come to school so we rode arround town and led the kids to school in a pied piper fashion. The presentation was a success. We had kids cliumbing all over us like monkeys in a tree...beeping our horns and screeming through our walkitalkis at each other.
