< back to Julie's blogHe still loves me

Yesterday was a down then up day.

While out shopping, saw a game that Adam would have loved, and the tears followed me all the way home.

Then later on I was cleaning out some old papers from the filing cabinet, and came across two letters that Adam had written to me a few years ago.

One finished with PS: I Love You.

Three little words that act like a balm to a wounded heart.

Hello Julie,

I know what you mean. Our Jack has been gone from us for a little over 3 1/2 years now.

Our fridge, like I suspect many others was full of notes and cards and pictures, some of them having been left there for years. At some point a couple of years ago I felt it was time to clean it up.
It may seem a little silly, but it was a walk down memory lane, there were shopping lists, school notes, dockets and the last birthday card Jack ever gave me.
It was a card he had made on the computer and it told me I was the best Mum a son could ever have.
My children don’t live in our home anymore and so I don’t have all those things that live on fridge doors, except for Jacks birthday card to me and my last little list of chores I had asked him to do the next time he was home.

Wishing you some sunshine in your day.
Rose

Thanks for that Rose, and may you have some sunshine too.
Its the little things in everyday life, that seem to be a comfort when we need it most.

Hello Julie and Rose,
We still have little “deposits” of Tanya’s things all through our house, although eight years have somehow passed by. The last mother’s day card she gave me was one she had hand-made and it sits on the mantle-piece in our kitchen (a big old, country style kitchen which is the hub of our house). We have kept anything we can find of hers to keep her close.
Her voice is also on our answering machine for our phone – I don’t think many people would realise it is her, as our other daughter’s sound very much alike, but I often press the button just to hear her talk.
I agree, we can find comfort when we most need it in the simplest of things.
But there are still times when nothing but a good cry and a lot of venting are the only things that seem to work.
Take care, both of you,
X Jan
