< back to Julie's blogHappy Fathers Day

Fathers day is just a few days away, my hubby is retreating into silence, it happens every year, to add to his heartache we lost my Dad, the only Dad my hubby has ever known, 4 days after the 5th anniversary of Lee's death. So this is the first fathers day without our wonderful father.  Hubbys own father was killed in a car crash when he was just 4 yrs old.

Ofcourse losing Lee stands out to be the most painful.

So we dont do fathers day even though we have 2 other kids, does that sound selfish, I think not.

Will we think of Lee, oh yes everyday, every minute he is never far from our thoughts.

If its not raining on Sunday maybe we will ride the Harley, Lee preferred his ducati but would understand his parents preferring the Screamin Eagle

To all you Angel Dads, do the best you can, take care xx

Father’s day brings mixed emotions for us,too.
My husband was very quiet on the day. He enjoyed his phone calls and prezzies, but chose to work on the farm rather than come to lunch with my family.
On Father’s day seven years ago, our whole family sat in the hospital with Sarah and explained to her what had happened to her sister Tanya and why she wasn’t there with us. We had spent the worst few weeks of our lives, but had tried to stay strong and positive for Sarah to help with her recovery. She had no recollection of what had happened, but we knew, as the strain on us all grew worse with each passing day it was time to tell her. I will never forget the look on Sarah’s face (or my husband’s ) as he explained everything that had happened and that Tanya had died.
We try to get together as a family whenever and wherever we can, but it’s never quite the same.
