Louise Cashell

I'm feeling Anxious.
I'm looking for connections with others affected by road trauma, people who understand grief and loss, and opportunities to educate others about the effect of reckless driving.
I'm here because I want to remember someone who has passed away as a result of a road collision and I want to create a memorial.
I've been a member since 27 Jan 2010

My story

On the 16th June, 2009 my 26 year old daughter Amanda Louise Cashell died in a head on collision with a truck on the Bruce Highway, Edmonton just south of Cairns. Her autopsy revealed that she had a blood alcohol level of 0.25 which is approximately five times over the legal limit. Whilst the onus was on her not to drink and drive her death could have been prevented had the last person who saw her alive not insisted she leave their house and go away.

I go into her room every night and often think I can see her asleep with her cat Opie lying at her side. Opie still runs to her bedroom window when a car drives by that sounds like Amanda's. He puts his front paws on the sill and looks up and down the street. It just breaks my heart again every time. I smell her perfume when I lie on her bed and haven't been able to wash any of her bedding as I don't want to lose the wonderful scent that is ""her"". I miss her every hour of every day from our morning cuppa to our attempts to do some ""serious"" cooking together. Mummy loves little angel.
